Nanai Jeremiah Tauamiti (Jerry, Malosi Pictures) currently has his film ‘Maria’ (Multinesia Productions, 2016) on the film circuit, winning the Mana Moana Award at Wairoa Maori Film Festival for Best Pasifika Short, and is part of the NZFC Latin America Roadshow of Films ;
Jerry has completed shooting ‘Liliu’ (Fresh Shorts supported, NZFC – produced by Ngairi Fuata, Sunpix Ltd); and is currently in production with the feature-length documentary – Paper Run (Co-pro Malosi Pictures and Topshelf Productions, Directed by Vea Mafile’o, produced by Sandra Kailahi and supported by NZFC). It’s also believed that Paper Run (once signing complete) will be the first NZFC funded Pasifika full-length feature doco film.
LILIU (currently in post-production) – Based in 1920’s Samoa, a young native court interpreter must choose his words carefully, as a Matai fights for her family and defends a culture that binds them both.
Shot in Samoa in May, Liliu used a significant number of local talent on-screen and off-screen gave students from the National University of Samoa (Media and Communications Dept) the opportunity to work on the film.
Liliu features – Vito Vito, Nesian famous from Three Wise Cousins; Ana Tuisila (Siones Wedding (2006), Outrageous Fortune (2005), Harry (2013)) and Tuiasau Uelese Petaia (Sons for the Return Home (1979), One Thousand Ropes (2016)).
