The New Zealand Asia Pacific Film Festival Organizing Committee today announced the Festival’s grand opening will be on October 29th. The Festival brings together a selection of films from China, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, India and beyond.

The red carpet opening on October 29th will bring together film industry luminaries from participating countries. Running from October 29 to October 31, this year’s lineup includes five feature films from Asia Pacific and five award-winning Chinese shorts.

The films include the award-winning CROSSCURRENTS (China), TONO, RISODUKE GOZARU (Japan), THE FRONT LINE (Korea), 3 MILE LIMIT (New Zealand) and the global premier of Indian film FEELING LUCKY, shot in New Zealand and Fiji.

The festival also features “Korea Night” and “Japan Night” themed events, featuring not only the filmmaking craft of each country but also other cultural elements such as music and dance.

“We are honored to be running the Festival again,” said Mr. Bo Li, Chairman of the Festival Organizing Committee. “Over the past four years, the New Zealand Asia Pacific Film Festival has established a unique reputation in the film industry locally and overseas. It has become one of the most influential annual Asian cultural events in New Zealand, receiving strong positive public support.”

The festival is designed to promote Asian cultures in New Zealand, power the development of the film industry in the Asia Pacific region, promote international cultural exchanges and cooperation, so that Auckland can become a more inclusive and multicultural society.
