Sista wraps shooting, Chantelle Burgoyne & Leilani Tamu | Pift Pacific Islanders in Film & TV

Sista, NZFC Fresh Shorts supported short film was shot over the long Matariki Weekend (2-5 Jun).

Sisters Leilani Tamu & Chantelle Burgoyne have teamed up as the writing duo on the project, while Chantelle took up directorial duties. Marina McCartney is the producer of Sista.

Sista is a tale of trust between two sisters in the cusp of adolescence sets off a chain of events that has the potential to shatter their relationship forever.

“We started writing the script about three years ago and it’s set in 1990s Auckland and – wait for it (yes!) – it’s about two sisters. More to come on the story in coming weeks but suffice to say that it provides insight into a pretty tough period in our lives…”
